| Dear Customers
2012 is away to a flying start and we are already into February.
We
like to thank all our customers who visited Bold in Gold over the holiday
season. Trading was very good and we were blessed with many return
customers.
Unfortunately Donna suffered a fractured shoulder while enjoying a well
deserved day off and will be away from work for about 6 weeks. This
newsletter is therefore a bit shorter than usual but rest assured that when Donna is
back at work you'll get the more elaborate newsletters again.
This month we feature the outstanding work of Master Goldsmith Birgit
Wasshausen. Birgit has been associated with Bold in Gold since 2005 and
many of you may already own a piece of jewellery made by Birgit.
With Valentine's Day just around the corner a piece of
Birgit's unique handcrafted jewellery would surely say "I love you" in
a very big and lasting way. You can browse through some of Birgit's
jewellery currently in stock at Bold in Gold below.
All the best from all at Bold in Gold

Birgit Wasshausen - Master
Goldsmith
Birgit and her husband
Juergen, a gemstone merchant, were both born and educated in Germany.
It was their quest for Opals that first brought the couple to Australia in
1995 and kept them coming back.
At the end of 2005 Birgit was sponsored by BOLD IN GOLD to work in
their workshop in Maleny and they moved permanently to Australia.
Since the closure of Bold in Gold in Maleny in 2008 Birgit
is self employed,
showcasing some of her high quality gemstone jewellery at BOLD IN GOLD
in Montville.
Birgit has studied jewellery making in Germany in the
1980s. Born and growing up in Dresden, she was always surrounded by art.
Birgit says “I love my occupation. It’s wonderful, to create
things which will be worn with pleasure and joy. Often I’m inspired by
nature and Art Nouveau.I like swinging lines, full of verve, asymmetric
designs but still simple Jewellery that will show the full beauty of a
special stone or pearl. Sometimes less is more.”
Each of her pieces is uniquely designed and
handcrafted with genuine natural gemstones, opals and pearls. Her
jewellery is predominantly crafted in 18carat but she also makes
some pure 24ct gold pieces or combinations of 18-carat gold and sterling
silver.
“I
like to create high quality work, good work that you can recognise
from the back.” says Birgit.
Come in to the BOLD IN GOLD Gallery Montville –
